I am looking for self-motivated Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting students/scholars to join my group. I am also happy to host undergraduate research interns and part-time research assistants. If you have interests, please reach me directly by email at shichen@ust.hk.
Potential research directions include: renewable energy systems, synergies and trade-offs across sectors, energy supply chain and investment, and global and local sustainability policy. We welcome applicants from diverse academic backgrounds who are passionate about sustainability-oriented
research.
Preferred qualification
- Strong self-motivation, curiosity, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in at least one mainstream programming language
- Experience in modeling or optimization of electricity, energy, complex or integrated systems,
and/or geographic information systems (GIS) analysis, and/or life-cycle analysis - Comfort with integrating tools and approaches from multiple disciplines
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS): Outstanding applicants are strongly encouraged to apply for the prestigious HKPFS. The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$337,200 (approximately US$43,230) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$14,000 (approximately US$1,790) per year.
